So on Aug 24th I plugged the song Ubeekuitee - Ma Vie. on this blog. Few days ago I got an unexpected email from the dude thanking me. Thats pretty awesome :) His real is name is Greg and you can check out more of his stuff here:

Also ealier today I got a random email in Spanish. Now I don't know spanish, so thank god for Google Translator, I was able to determine that they wanted to know the name of a particular song on a youtube video. Shazam! Yes thats the name of the Iphone app I used to get the song name. The app is amazing. You point the mic at the speakers and let it record a short clips of the song, seconds later it gives you the name! Shazam! Simply brilliant. Check it out if you have an Iphone! Oh and the song was Dario G - Sunchyme. An absolute classic. Reminds me of summer school holidays.

On the developement side, things have been slow as I'm juggling between 2 jobs and I'm really not a multitasking kind of guy. Focusing on 1 thing and doing it properly is my kind of style. Regardless I'll split off some days per week to focus purely on MT and get some more community features up. Peace out for now.

In the past week, you may have noticed the rather ugly banner appearing just above the footer of the site. I know. I'm sorry. This is simply to balance the server costs which have dug some serious holes in my pocket for the past months. So it's kinda neccessary if the site is to stay alive.

Another experimental route we're trying out is the selling of our high quality grade A green.

Do you want to see live broadcasts of what other users are currently listening to on MixTurtle? Well now you can with the all new and shiny button. This one is just an image so don't be fooled. You can find the real one on the top right corner of the home page. Click on the 'HOME' link above then look top right.

Mac and Opera users can now click on the 'mixturtle' button on the top left to access the playlist menu. This has replaced the 'double-click' functionality on the turtle since the turtle will not be featured on every single page.

We've also made the playlists auto-play when clicked from playlist pages, this did not work previously and we realized it must have caused some confusion. Here is an example. Click on a song to play and hopefully with a lot of luck it should continue to the next when it finishes.

Hello people!!

The long awaited update has been launched. We've been working hard over the past month on these features which you've all been screaming for. Thanks again for all the suggestions. Here's a breakdown of what's new:

New advanced player controls - play, pause, skip forward, skip back, volume control, repeat song, continuous play, random play, time elapsed, time left, selectable playhead bar.

New playlist controls - create new playlists, edit, save, save-as, load, clear. Split playlists 'current' and 'recently played songs'.

Main search results page - Play, pause, add to playlist, subtract from playlist.

Also, some users on Macs and Opera browsers don't have right clicks available - now you can double-click on the turtle and you'll get the playlist menu

Just a quick heads up to let you know we're currently working our butts off to bring you the next update. Our guesstimation on delivery is around 2-3 weeks from today (with luck).

So what are we working on? Well we're revamping the user-interface so it's more intuitive and easier to build playlists. Editting playlists will also be possible. Tracking your 'played' music will be easier too. We're also adding more functionality to the music player, things like volume, rewind, fast forward, so you'll have a full set of controls.

For those who want to add songs to our database, we have a submission tool in the works too. This will replace our current manual system and should streamline the process.

In the meantime, we have a small congregation of fans gathering over at this MixTurtle Facebook Group. Check out and join if you wish. Oh and thank you Martin for creating it :)

Check out their show and listen out for the moment which had us all in chuckles. We get reviewed around the 51min point. They also named us "Web App of the week" Woohoo!

Hey, wusup!

First off, a big thanks to all those who've sent us emails regarding bugs, suggestions, and expressions of love for the site. Hell we even had a poem written about us (thank u Sally Wu). We're blown away, really. Do keep sending them in, we love to hear all the feedback and what improvements you want to see made. We have been made aware of some bugs and one particular area (the playlists) is rather buggy at the mo. So we're cracking down on it.

Admittedly we did launch the site early without perfecting it throughout. Why? Well we weren't sure if the site would gain any traction or not and from readings blogs about other peoples start-ups, they've all recommended launching early and not waste time building features that may never get used. We were testing the waters.

So now is the time for improvements. Keep sending them in and we'll know what to work on :)

After a day of pounding our brave server has survived the battle. We've called in the reinforcements so an additional server is now dealing with the database. Woop woop! The other option was to take the site down and wait for our nameservers to resolve which would've taken 1-3 days. Not good.

Anyway, the drama is over for now, until next time evil traffic, until next time. 0_o

So we decided to get the word out about MixTurtle and we've gotten some awesome reviews across a number of top blogs this evening. Thanks guys! However, our poor little server is at deaths door. RIP. We're in the process of upgrading right now so please bear with us.

Ok so we've finally implemented the all new sparkly design onto the site. It looks so lovely doesn't it? A very special thanks to Mike and his elite graphic skills and eagle eye on style for drumming up this awesome layout.

Also on the completion list is subdomains for new users and playlists. That's right. Here's an example for all you Velvet Underground fans.

Another thing is we've now enabled your sessions across all the subdomains, so once you've logged in once, you will stay logged in across the whole site.
